Hello, I’m Liz Green…

 

Declarations of super powers are not really my thing – especially when we’ve only just met – but…

I do know my eternal optimism helps me bring out the best in the purpose-driven people I work with – and their brands.

Originally a small business copywriter, my curiosity into the research and strategy side of things grew, and my work began to extend beyond copy into other areas of digital marketing.

From email campaigns to branding or launching, mindset tweaks and good old-fashioned problem solving – some call it coaching…

I think of it as collaborative brain bumping – with a generous dollop of education and encouragement on the side.

So, what’s my story?

It took a mid-life crisis (not the sports car and shenanigans kind) for me to finally commit to the work I’d always loved… Writing.

After my family’s award-winning construction business ended in bankruptcy, my first instinct was to curl up into a ball. Roll away. Hide.

And I did that for a little while. But, like I said – I’m a pretty optimistic person.

I realised I could choose to view my unexpected and unwanted life change as a disaster. Or a fresh start…

I got a job. Then I went to uni, where I studied Professional Writing and Publishing.

Along the way, I began crerating web content for Curtin University’s careers centre. I was pretty happy!

Just over 3 years later, teetering on the edge of 50, I added a tertiary qualification to my decades of work and life experience. It felt like the cream-cheese icing on my career cake. I was excited to get to work…

Only problem – (for the first time in my life) my job applications were going unanswered. I wasn’t 100% sure what to do next until…

I discovered the world of copywriting through the Hot Copy Podcast.
It changed everything!

Bolstered by some training (and encouraging feedback) from copywriting specialist, Bernadette Schwerdt, at the Australian Writers’ Centre…

I launched my copywriting business in July 2017 with no clear plan – just buckets of enthusiasm and excitement. Plus a belief that I had skills that could support the growth of other small businesses.

Since then, I’ve helped purpose-driven brands in Perth and across Australia find and use the right words – in the right way – to reach more of the right people. Then move them to take action.

I’ve continued to learn from internationally-renowned copywriting specialists which means…

You can rely on me to bring a healthy dollop of knowledge and experience to every new project.

What the heck’s a purpose-driven brand and why do I love working with them?

 

Not sure if there’s a universal definition – but I know what it means to me.

The person or people behind the brand have a mission that goes beyond sales and profit.

They act to bring about positive change for their clients, which then has an impact on the wider community.

It’s not about being a specific type of business. It’s more about having a specific, heart-centred approach.

Every time a purpose-driven brand helps a client solve a problem, it has the potential to be life-changing – on a small scale or a large one.

Either way, I love playing a part in achieving that kind of outcome – that’s kind of my purpose!

Talking about purpose…

‘Liz, you’ll be happy to know I got my first booking today from the new website.’

When an excited client sends me a message like this after their copy goes live – it makes my day.

Likewise, it honestly breaks my heart when I meet someone who’s put their time, energy – and usually a fair whack of cash – into creating a fabulous business, but…

They’re a bit wobbly about their brand. And their copy is all wrong for their audience. 

So, my purpose is:

To help business owners use research-based copywriting to grow their reach, revenue and impact online (without sleazy sales talk).

So they can build a business they love that’s aligned with their values and supports the life they want for themselves.

Contributing to building a better community was a foundational promise I made to myself.

So, across each year, I donate a percentage of my fees to a range of charities that are close to my heart, including Beyond Blue, Movember, OvarianCancerOz and Share the Dignity.

I’m incredibly fortunate to live (with my husband and an orange vagabond cat) on the land of the Whadjuk Nyoongar people – Perth, Western Australia.
